Mono-Mac-6 is a human monocytic cell line derived from peripheral blood of a patient with Acute monoblastic leukemia (AML, M5). Once isolated, these cells showed characteristics of monocytic cell line on the basis of morphology, cytochemical and immunological criteria. Mono-Mac-6 cells resemble mature monocytes more closely than other monocytic cell lines, like THP-1 and U937. Cultured in vitro, Mono-Mac-6 are round cells growing in small clusters and in suspension. They are widely used in study of monocyte differentiation and activation, research on cytokine production and immune signaling, such as LPS response and TLR pathway.
