BV-2 cell medium is formulated and optimized for the in vitro culture of BV-2 microglial cells. It provides essential nutrients required for BV-2 cell growth and maintenance, including inorganic salts, amino acids, vitamins, and and other key components that support cellular metabolism and proliferation. This formulation does not contain fetal bovine serum (FBS) or penicillin-streptomycin (P/S) solution, allowing flexibility for researchers to adjust supplementation according to their experimental needs. For routine culture, it is recommended to supplement the medium with 15% FBS and 1% P/S, and these concentrations may be modified based on specific culture conditions or experimental objectives.
