Cat. No. ARI0242
GES-1 is a human gastric epithelial cell line, established by infecting primary epithelial cells with SV40. These cells exhibit a homogeneous morphology in culture, with relatively large cell size and some have more than two nucleoli. Hybridization probe analysis confirmed that the SV40 Large T gene has indeed integrated into the genome of GES-1 cells, and indirect immunofluorescence staining of the T antigen shows clear nuclear expression. GES-1 cells are non-tumorgenic in nude mice. When they were inoculated subcutaneously into athymic nude mice observed for six months, no tumor formation was detected. GES-1 is an aneuploid cell line. GES-1 cells exhibit keratin reactivity, indicating that they originate from epithelial cells rather than fibroblasts. They also retain the microtubule and microfilament structures characteristic of normal gastric epithelial cells, and possess abundant cytoplasm.

Synonyms: GES1
