Human retinal pericytes are specialized mural cells that support retinal microvasculature, regulate blood flow, maintain the blood-retinal barrier, and contribute to angiogenesis. They play a key role in retinal health and disease such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal vein occlusion. Human retinal pericytes are widely used in the research on pericyte dysfunction and pericyte-targeted therapies
