KHYG-1 is a natural killer(NK) leukemia cell line, derived from the peripheral blood of a 45-year-old woman with aggressive NK leukemia. In vitro, KHYG-1 cells show NK cell activity and the morphology of large granular lymphocytes, with a large nucleus, coarse chromatin, prominent nucleoli, and basophilic cytoplasm rich in azurophilic granules. They grow in suspension, mainly as round to polymorphic cells in clumps, and exhibit IL-2–dependent growth.

Synonym: KHYG1; KHYG
