The KO52 cell line was established from the bone marrow of a patient with multi-lineage CD7-positive acute leukemia. Under laboratory conditions, these cells expressed specific markers to identify its lineage, such as myeloid-associated antigens (CD13, CD14, and CD33) and lymphoid markers (CD2, CD5, and CD7), as well as HLA-DR. The KO52 carries mutations in p53 and N-ras gene, which are typically associated with different stages or subtypes of leukemia. When exposed to G-CSF, IL-2, PMA, or vitamin D3, KO52 cells might exhibit some characteristics of granulocytic or monocytic/macrophage-like differentiations.
