MDA-MB-453 is a human breast cancer cell line, derived from a malignant pleural effusion of a 48-year-old female with metastatic carcinoma of the breast. The cell line is triple-negative (ER-, PR-, HER-). It expresses a high level of androgen receptor and is responsive to androgen stimulation, which leads to increased proliferation of MDA-MB-453 that can be inhibited by anti-androgens. The MDA-MB-453 is non-tumorigenic in immunosuppressed mice, but tumorigenic when growing in semisolid medium. <br> <br>Synonym: MDA-MB 453; MDA MB 453; MDA-MB453; MDAMB453; MDA-453; MDA453 <br> <br> <span style="font-size:14px"> <br>[1] K.
