Immortalized Cell Line
Homo sapiens (Human)
Umbilical cord
Suspension
MT-2 cell line was derived from the co-cultivation of normal human umbilical cord leukocytes of a healthy donor with diseased leukocytes of an adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) patient infected with HTLV-1. MT-2 cells expresses CD4 and CD25, and lacks of CD3 expression. They are able to product HTLV-1 virions and support the growth of HIV-1. In in vitro culture, MT-2 cells are IL-2 dependent that grow in suspension, and exhibit lymphoblast-like morphology.
