Cardiovascular System

The Cardiovascular System category provides cells essential for studying heart function, vascular biology, angiogenesis, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and cardiac regeneration. Our offerings feature human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), the most widely used endothelial model for tube formation assays, leukocyte adhesion studies, and nitric oxide production measurements. HUVEC is known for angiogenesis assays, and we provide both fresh and cryopreserved HUVEC with detailed donor information. Cardiac fibroblasts maintain heart structure by producing extracellular matrix; they are involved in fibrosis, scar formation after myocardial infarction, and cardiac remodeling. Human cardiac fibroblasts are used in models of heart failure, hypertrophy, and drug-induced cardiotoxicity. Human aortic endothelial cells line the large arteries and are used for shear stress experiments, atherosclerosis research, and studies on endothelial dysfunction. Human cardiac microvascular endothelial cells are important for microcirculation research; they are used to study ischemia-reperfusion injury and coronary microvascular dysfunction. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) participate in vasculogenesis and are used for regenerative medicine, including therapeutic angiogenesis in ischemic limbs. Microvascular endothelial cells from various beds (e.g., lung, dermis, brain, kidney) are available for tissue-specific vascular studies. Cardiac fibroblasts are often co-cultured with cardiomyocytes to study electromechanical coupling and fibrosis. Human dermal microvascular endothelial cells are used for skin angiogenesis models, wound healing, and diabetic microvascular complications. Myocardial cells include both cardiomyocytes and pacemaker cells (sinoatrial node, atrioventricular node). Heart cells is a broad term, but we provide specific subtypes including atrial myocytes, ventricular myocytes, and cardiac fibroblasts. Coronary artery endothelial cells are specific to heart circulation; they are used for studies on coronary artery disease, vasospasm, and myocardial bridge. Researchers repeatedly use human umbilical vein endothelial cells for permeability assays (FITC-dextran), cardiac fibroblasts for scar formation studies (collagen gel contraction), and human aortic endothelial cells for shear stress experiments using cone-and-plate viscometers. Our cardiovascular cells, endothelial cells, and cardiac cells are quality-controlled for purity (e.g., CD31 for endothelial cells, α-actinin for cardiomyocytes, vimentin for fibroblasts) and functional responses, supporting your vascular and cardiac research from basic science to translational applications.
