Reporter Cell Lines are engineered to express a measurable signal (e.g., fluorescence, luminescence) in response to specific cellular events. Inducible reporter systems (e.g., Tet-On, Cre-Lox, light-inducible) allow temporal control of reporter expression. Signal transduction reporter cells monitor kinase cascades, second messengers (e.g., calcium, cAMP), or GPCR activation (e.g., CREB-luciferase).

Researchers use luciferase reporter cell lines for high-throughput compound screening, measuring IC50 values for pathway inhibitors. A GFP reporter line under a neural promoter (e.g., synapsin-GFP) tracks differentiation of stem cells into neurons. Pathway reporter cells like NF-κB-luciferase are used for inflammation studies (e.g., LPS, TNF-α).
